I'm now living in Berlin for the summer. I also got married last weekend. As you can see, lots of big changes have happened recently.... I hope to update the journal more often, since it's now that much more difficult for me to stay in touch with people back in the US. This is complicated a bit, however, by the surprisingly primitive internet connectivity options here. Maybe I just haven't found the right solution yet, but as far as I can tell there is no flat-rate dial-up service. Since I'm subletting, I can't make any permanent changes to the apartment. So adding DSL or satellite broadband won't work. For now, I'm using AOL (shudder). This comes with a $3.95/hour surcharge, however, which is completely obscene. If anyone knows of a cheap (or even not so cheap) flat-rate dial-up plan in Berlin, I'd love to hear about it.
