More laptop woes - it appears that I now have a dead monitor. At startup, I get a fully-functioning display for about one minute before the screen goes entirely black. If I shine a flashlight on it, I can see that there's still data. But the backlight is clearly fried.
I have about 100 days of warranty left, and I'll definitely use it to get it fixed. But I'm tired of dealing with this. It's only a matter of time before the thing craps out at a gig.
Any recommendations for a quality replacement would be greatly appreciated. I just want something reliable...

IMPORTANT: I will NOT be appearing in Utrecht tonight. The airline I was booked on went bankrupt this morning, cancelling all of their flights. I didn't find this out until I arrived at the airport, by which time all alternate flights were booked. My sincerest apologies to those of you who were planning to catch my set. I feel really bad about this, but there's really nothing I can do. I hope to be able to re-schedule a gig there in the future.

More tasty treats from Thinner: the legendary Jeff Bennett has just released a 4-track EP which you'll go download if you're smart. The diligent and/or obsessive among you will remember that Jeff provided a really nice remix for my track "Warning Fatigue" on k2o last year, and I've been itching to return the favor ever since. Well, now I have.
